Home Office Travel Document Support

Refugee Travel Document Support — £100
Other Home Office Travel Document Support — £200

UK Visa Plan provides advice and practical application support for people applying for Home Office travel documents from within the UK.

Our main service is for Refugee Travel Document applications for a fixed fee of £100 per application, plus the Home Office application fee.

We can also assist with Certificates of Travel, Stateless Person’s Travel Documents and One Way Travel Documents for £200 per application, plus the applicable Home Office fee.

We help with the application process, document preparation and supporting evidence. Where a case raises a substantive or disputed immigration or protection issue rather than a straightforward travel-document application, we will identify that before undertaking work outside the scope of this service.

OTHER TRAVEL DOCUMENT HELP

Refugee Travel Document Applications

A Refugee Travel Document is a Home Office travel document for people who have refugee status in the UK and certain people who originally came to the UK under family reunion arrangements to join someone with refugee status.

We prepare, complete and submit the Refugee Travel Document application and organise the supporting evidence for a fixed fee of £100 per applicant, plus the applicable Home Office fee.

Our £100 Service Includes

  • checking the information needed for the application;
  • preparing a tailored document checklist;
  • helping obtain the relevant information from the applicant's eVisa and UKVI account;
  • preparing the online application;
  • checking names, dates and personal information for consistency;
  • reviewing the supporting documents;
  • identifying documents requiring certified translation;
  • organising the supporting evidence;
  • explaining which original documents the Home Office asks the applicant to send;
  • reviewing the application before submission; and
  • practical assistance with any subsequent administrative request for further information or documents.

The £100 fee is charged per applicant. Home Office application fees and any translation, postage or other third-party costs are separate.

Using a Refugee Travel Document

The period for which a Refugee Travel Document is issued depends on the holder's immigration permission. Where the holder is settled in the UK it will normally be valid for up to 10 years, or up to 5 years for a child aged 15 or under. Where the holder has limited permission to stay, it will normally be valid until that permission expires.

A Refugee Travel Document can usually be used for travel to countries other than the applicant's country of origin and any country from which asylum was sought.
Before making travel arrangements, the traveller should check whether the destination and any transit country accepts the document and whether a visa is required.

Do not book travel until the Home Office travel document has been issued.

Other Home Office Travel Documents

The Home Office also issues other types of travel document in particular circumstances.

UK Visa Plan charges a fixed £200 application-support fee per applicant for these applications, plus the relevant Home Office application fee.

Certificate of Travel

A Certificate of Travel may be available to certain people with permission to stay or settlement who cannot obtain a passport or travel document from their own national authorities, and in certain other circumstances specified by the Home Office. Some applicants must provide evidence that they have applied for a national passport or travel document and have been unreasonably refused.

Current Home Office fee:
Adult £320
Child aged 15 or under £161

Stateless Person’s Travel Document

This travel document is for a person who has already been formally recognised as stateless in the UK. A person with refugee status must instead use the Refugee Travel Document route.

Current Home Office fee:
Adult £102
Child aged 15 or under £66.50

One Way Travel Document

A One Way Travel Document is for certain non-British citizens who do not have a valid national passport or travel document and intend to leave the UK permanently.

It is valid for a single journey out of the UK and cannot be used to return to the UK.

Current Home Office fee:
Adult £102
Child aged 15 or under £66.50

Which Home Office Travel Document Should You Apply For?

The correct application depends on the status and circumstances already recorded by the Home Office.

Before preparing an application, we will check the relevant Home Office documentation and digital status information to identify which published travel-document process appears to apply.

This matters because the Home Office warns that an application for the wrong type of travel document can be refused and the application fee will not be refunded. A new application and fee would then be required.

NEED HELP WITH YOUR EVISA?
If you cannot access your eVisa or UKVI account, or your passport or status information appears incorrect, our separate eVisa & Digital Status Support service may be appropriate before the travel-document application is prepared.

How Our Travel Document Application Service Works

Our service is a complete application-preparation and submission service. We can prepare the application, review and organise the supporting documents, submit the application to the Home Office with the applicant’s approval and assist with subsequent administrative correspondence or requests for further evidence.

1. Initial Application Check

We review the applicant’s current Home Office status and available documents to identify which Home Office travel document application appears appropriate.

2. Personalised Document Checklist

We prepare a tailored checklist of the information and supporting documents required for the application.

3. Application Preparation

We complete the Home Office travel document application using the information and documents provided by the applicant and check names, dates, status information and other details for consistency.

4. Supporting Document Review

We review the supporting evidence, identify any obvious gaps or inconsistencies and organise the documents required for submission.

5. Application Submission

Once the application has been checked and approved by the applicant, UK Visa Plan submits the application to the Home Office and assists with the payment and submission process.

6. Original Documents and Further Evidence

We explain which original documents the Home Office requires and how they should be sent. If the Home Office later asks for additional documents or information, we can help prepare and submit the response.

7. Application Follow-Up

We can help monitor the application, deal with practical Home Office correspondence and assist with any further administrative steps until the travel document application is concluded.

Scope of Our Travel Document Support

UK Visa Plan provides practical administrative and application-preparation support with Home Office travel document applications.

Our service is intended for cases where the applicant's existing immigration, refugee, humanitarian-protection or stateless status has already been determined by the Home Office and the task is to prepare the appropriate travel-document application.

UK Visa Plan does not provide individual advice or representation concerning asylum claims, or disputed protection status. If a travel-document enquiry raises such an issue, we will identify this before undertaking work outside the permitted scope of our service.

The Home Office alone decides whether a travel document will be issued.

ASK ABOUT TRAVEL DOCUMENT SUPPORT
UK Visa Plan is a private and independent service and is not affiliated with the Home Office or UK Visas and Immigration. We provide practical support with Home Office travel document applications, including application preparation, supporting documents and the submission process. The Home Office alone decides whether a travel document will be issued. If a separate issue arises concerning a person’s underlying immigration status or another matter requiring regulated immigration advice or representation, that falls outside this service.
